The Mad Emperor - 2001
| I don't want to say too much about this cover drawing, for the series "Darkness", as it would give away the multi-chapter mini-graphic novel I'm doing that's not finished yet. (The first four chapters of the book are complete.) The guy in the center is the Emperor. He is also known as Silver Hammer (Beatles song: Bang, bang Maxwell silver hammer), a character I have been drawing since 1974 in high school. I've used this character in several ways, but it has been leading up to this, an alien who is visiting his 'property', the Earth, as an observer, but becomes much more involved. The females around him are called "Hunters". They are super strong female warriors who raised him when they found him. They are now his guards and advisors. From the bottom left clockwise: Commander Otth - Head of the military, Gunner - Head of security, Cleo - chief advisor and head of organization (Like a human computer), Countessa Drexel - Head of paranormal studies (Ghosts, aliens, legendary creatures, religion), The Mech (Robot) is Ettrox, Dancer - Head of communications/translations (Even though she only communicated through dancing), and the cat is Semolina, who tends to show up in a lot of my cartoons for some reason, is based on an actual cat I had. She's the first pet I ever had and was named from a song by The dents. |
