Lather - 1980

This is a one of my drawings where I have a flash and I just draw what's flowing through my mind. I was not doing well mentally as I was being evicted from my apartment because of the antics of my loud, drunk and boisterous live-in girlfriend. (I understand she has mellowed out considerably since then.) It did lead to me moving-in with a very interesting individual, whom I collaborated on joint film projects with, but that's another story. Anyway, all this negative energy and adult responsibilities, like dealing with a girlfriend with a Jekyl and Hyde personality and finding a new place to live fast, just made me wish I was a kid again. Back when I would go out on my bike at 2:00 in-the-morning and sit in a field and just let my mind wander. It was during one of these musings that I heard the Jefferson Airplane song "Lather" playing, and it just hit the right mindset. I played the song over and over while I did this piece. Sort of therapy for me.
